FILM STUDIES

Choose Ryburn Sixth for your course on Film Studies, a place where creativity is at the heart of everything that we do.

This course encourages students to develop skills and knowledge which are key for the film industry, use of specialist language, creative and production skills and a study of film form looking at both Hollywood world and British cinema. We aim to spark students’ appreciation for film and its history as well as its cultural diversity. The course will also teach transferable skills such as analysis, criticism approaches and research.

Students will also develop skills in film making or screenwriting as part of the course. Our experienced and highly skilled teachers will train students in cinematography, directing and editing if they choose the filmmaking NEA option, and will produce a short film of their own. If students choose to write a screenplay, then they will learn to write their own short film in the development of an industry standard script and photographed storyboard. Filmmaking skills activities and workshops are embedded throughout the two-year course.
